The short version
We collect your email to send you a free weekly dinner plan. We never sell your information. You can unsubscribe at any time.
What we collect
• Email address (required), to send the newsletter.
• First name, family size or a public-counter opt-in, only if we add those optional fields to our signup form. The counter opt-in is off unless you check it.
• Basic email activity that our email provider records automatically, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked, plus the approximate time and device type.
We do not knowingly collect payment details, precise location or sensitive health information.
How we use it
• To send the weekly plan, welcome emails and occasional updates about Hearty Penny (such as the planned free app).
• To improve our plans and understand which content is useful.
• To reply when you write to us. Replies to our emails may be read and used to improve the plans. We quote a reply only with your permission.
• If you tell us about allergies or diets in a reply, we use it only to respond and improve plans.
• To meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
• Our email service provider, Kit (ConvertKit), which stores subscriber data and sends emails for us under its own privacy and security terms.
• Email forwarding: messages sent to hello@heartypenny.com are forwarded by ImprovMX to an inbox hosted by Google (Gmail) so we can read and reply.
• Other service providers that help us run the newsletter (such as hosting), only as needed to provide the service.
• When required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
• If Hearty Penny is sold or transferred, subscriber data may move to the new owner under this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
No advertising trackers
• No advertising trackers. We don't use advertising trackers, retargeting or third-party ad networks on our signup page or in our emails. The only tracking in our emails is Kit's open and click tracking, described below.
• Cookies. Our signup page may use cookies that Kit needs to run the form and prevent spam. We don't use advertising cookies.
• Email open and click tracking. Kit, our email provider, records whether you open our emails and which links you click, using standard tracking pixels and links. We use this only to see what's useful and to find inactive subscribers. Many email apps let you block images to limit open tracking.
• Kit Recommendations and Creator Network. These Kit features can recommend other newsletters at signup or share subscribers between newsletters. We keep them turned off. If we ever turn them on, we'll update this policy and tell you first.
Links to stores and other sites
Our emails link to grocery stores and other third-party websites. We aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices. Their own policies apply when you visit them. Hearty Penny is not affiliated with or endorsed by Walmart Inc. or any other retailer unless we say so clearly.
Your choices
• Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing hello@heartypenny.com; we'll process emailed requests within 10 business days.
• Access, correct or delete your information by emailing us. We'll respond within a reasonable time, and as required by applicable law.
• Withdraw counter consent at any time by emailing us, and we'll remove your name.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights; contact us to use them.
Age
Hearty Penny is for adults in the United States. You must be 18 or older to sign up. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or anyone under 18). If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we will delete their information.
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber data while you're subscribed and active. If you haven't opened or clicked an email in 24 months, we delete your data. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 90 days, except that we keep your email address and unsubscribe date on a suppression list so we never email you again, and any record we need to comply with the law.
Security
We use reasonable measures, and rely on our providers' safeguards, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date and, for important changes, tell subscribers by email.
